What’s important for your “The Essence of Contrasts” artwork – the theory in the video course

“The Essence of Contrasts” is created through the interplay of the texture media resi-CRETE, XL CRACKLE PASTE and crackle varnish.

Do you already have experience with these materials? Great. Have you never worked with them before? That’s great too. In both cases, you’ll learn something – and in both cases, you’ll be able to create your own Essence of Contrasts texture artwork after the course.

Artist Stefanie Etter is an experienced instructor and guides you step by step through the self-paced course towards your artistic, high-contrast result.

You’ll create visible contrasts between light and dark, matt and glossy. You’ll create tactile contrasts between smooth and textured. And you’ll create an impressive artwork. Your own!

What to expect in the “The Essence of Contrasts” self-paced video course – the practical part

• Priming: Think of it as a powerful starting point, because it is part of this texture artwork. That’s why Stefanie also gives you some extra tips.
• Different texture materials: Three different materials are used here to create striking contrasts.
• Working with resi-CRETE: Use the pre-pigmented texture medium to create the desired effect depending on the mixing ratio.
• Working with XL CRACKLE PASTE: a texture material with guaranteed results. As long as you follow Stefanie’s instructions for priming, applying and colouring it. Your reward will be … well, you’ll see.
• Working with crackle varnish: Easily create contrasting cracks alongside the XL CRACKLE PASTE.
• Bringing the background to life: Feel free to make your artwork even more unique with acrylic ink and/or the exciting Spider Spray.
• Working on parts of the textures: This is all about the finer details of colour. We also like to say: minimal effort, impressive effect! Oil pastels and sprays come in handy here.
• Edges of the painting surface: Add colour if you like. Here’s how to do it quickly and neatly.
• Even more contrast: Up to this point, your artwork is fairly matt. Want some shine? Then it’s time to use resin.
• Working with resin: You’ll learn exactly what you need to know for the Essence. Preparation and composition. Clear and coloured. With effects.
• Final touches: Remove any bubbles and foreign particles from your artwork.
